Regulatory Status & Governing Law

The Platform operates in accordance with Irish law and applicable EU legislation. All healthcare professionals providing services via doxoncall.ie:

  • Are registered with their relevant Irish regulatory bodies
  • Practice in accordance with Irish Medical Council (IMC) guidance

These Terms are governed by Irish law, and you submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts.

3

Nature of the Platform

doxoncall.ie is an online healthcare platform facilitating access to non-emergency telemedicine services, including:

  • Video consultations
  • Telephone consultations
  • Prescription services
  • Medical certificates
  • Referral letters
  • Health plans and test kits (where applicable)
Please Note doxoncall.ie acts as a facilitating platform and billing agent. It does not provide emergency services and does not replace your Online Doctor or hospital care. Healthcare professionals act as independent practitioners and are solely responsible for clinical decisions.
4

Eligibility, Residency & Declarations

By using doxoncall.ie, you confirm that:

  • You are 18 years or older, or a legal guardian acting for a minor
  • You are resident in the Republic of Ireland
  • You are physically located in the Republic of Ireland at the time of your consultation
  • You are registering only for yourself
  • All information you provide is true, accurate, and complete

Separate Appointments Per Patient

Each appointment booked via doxoncall.ie is valid for one patient only. A separate appointment must be booked for each individual patient, including family members or dependants. Medical prescriptions and consultations cannot be shared, combined, or transferred between patients. We reserve the right to verify identity at any time.

5

Medical Emergencies

🚨 doxoncall.ie must not be used for acute emergencies. Call 112 or 999 immediately if you or someone experiences any of the following:
  • Chest pain
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Uncontrolled bleeding
  • Major burns or wounds
  • Severe trauma
  • Fall
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Stroke or heart-attack symptoms
  • Severe allergic reactions
  • Acute confusion or seizures

5.1 Mental Health Crisis, Suicidal Thoughts and Risk of Harm

DoxOnCall does not operate a crisis service, and this platform must never be used when someone is in immediate danger.

Should you experience suicidal thoughts, or fear that you might harm yourself or somebody else, please reach out straight away — to your own GP, to someone close to you, or to any of the following:

  • Emergency services — 112 or 999. Call these numbers, or attend your nearest Emergency Department, whenever life is at immediate risk.
  • Samaritans — 116 123. Free of charge, answered around the clock, every day of the year.
  • Pieta — 1800 247 247. A free 24-hour crisis line offering suicide and self-harm support throughout Ireland. Texting HELP to 51444 also reaches their team.
🚨 An immediate risk cannot wait for a booked appointment. Nobody monitors your account between consultations, and an emergency cannot be raised with us through the booking system, by email, or via the patient portal.
6

Online Consultations

6.1 Booking & Access

  • Consultations must be pre-booked
  • Payment is required in advance
  • Confirmation is issued by email once payment is received
  • Consultations are conducted via secure video or telephone where appropriate

6.2 Technical Requirements

You are responsible for ensuring:

  • Adequate internet connection
  • Functional camera and microphone
  • Privacy and confidentiality
  • Punctual attendance
⚠ Please Note Failure to meet these requirements does not entitle you to a refund.

6.3 Attendance

  • Providers may open the consultation room up to 5 minutes early
  • A 15-minute grace period applies
  • Failure to attend within this time results in termination of the appointment without refund
7

Minors

  • Patients under 18 may only be consulted with parental or legal guardian consent
  • A parent or guardian must be present during the consultation
  • Mental health assessments for patients under 18 are not provided

7.1 Emergencies in Children

Where you believe your child is seriously unwell, this platform is the wrong route and an urgent in-person assessment should be sought instead.

Because sepsis and meningitis progress rapidly in childhood, both count as emergencies. HSE guidance is to ring 112 or 999, or attend an Emergency Department, where a baby or a child under 5 shows even one of these signs:

  • Blue, pale or blotchy skin, lips or tongue
  • A rash that does not fade when you press it
  • Is very sluggish, unusually sleepy, or hard to wake
  • Feels unusually cold to touch
  • Has had no wet nappies, or has not passed urine, for more than 12 hours
  • Is breathing very fast
  • Has fits or convulsions
  • Has a weak, high-pitched cry that is not like their normal cry
  • Is still unwell after 24 hours, or is getting worse
🚨 The glass test. Where a child or young adult is visibly ill and a purplish or red rash has come up, press the side of a clear glass tumbler firmly onto the skin. A rash that remains visible through the glass may signal septicaemia (blood poisoning). Go urgently to the Emergency Department of your local hospital, or dial 112 or 999 for an ambulance.
⚠ A fading rash does not mean your child is safe. Many seriously ill children never develop a rash at all, and where one does appear it often does so late. Continued worry about your child is itself a reason to seek assessment, whatever the glass test shows.

The HSE publishes fuller guidance on recognising sepsis at www2.hse.ie/conditions/sepsis.

Clinical Responsibility & Patient Obligations

You agree to:

  • Provide complete and accurate medical information
  • Disclose all relevant symptoms, allergies, history, and medications
  • Follow medical advice as provided
  • Inform your Online Doctor of treatments or prescriptions issued
  • Report adverse reactions promptly
  • Provide accurate personal details when booking — full legal name, date of birth, address, email address and gender — and check them before you pay
⚠ Liability Notice Clinical decisions are based solely on the information you provide prior to and during the consultation. doxoncall.ie accepts no liability where harm arises from incomplete, inaccurate, or misleading information supplied by you.

8.1 Accuracy of Your Booking Details

The details you enter when booking are the details that appear on any prescription, medical certificate or report issued to you. Pharmacies, employers, insurers and State bodies rely on them, and they cannot be verified independently during an online consultation.

  • It is your responsibility to enter your full legal name, date of birth, address, email address and gender correctly, and to check them on the review screen before you pay.
  • We accept no liability for any loss, delay, rejection or additional cost arising from details you supplied incorrectly — for example a prescription a pharmacy will not dispense, or a certificate an employer or insurer will not accept, because the name or date of birth does not match your identification.
  • You may ask us at any time to correct the personal details we hold about you, and we will do so. This is separate from amending a document that has already been issued.
  • We do not guarantee that a prescription, certificate or report can be amended, re-issued or backdated once it has been issued. Such a document is a clinical record made by the treating doctor on a given date. Whether it can be changed is a clinical decision for that doctor, and may require verification of your identity (see Section 16) or a further consultation, for which a fee may apply.
9

Limitations of Online Care

Due to the absence of physical examination, we cannot safely manage certain conditions, including but not limited to:

  • Emergency conditions
  • Chest pain or severe shortness of breath
  • Pregnancy-related issues
  • Breast or testicular lumps
  • Ear pain, discharge, or hearing loss
  • Eye pain or visual problems
  • Major burns or wounds
  • Severe headaches or neurological symptoms
  • UTIs in children, males, or pregnant women
  • Sexually transmitted infections
  • Infants under 1 year with fever over 38°C
  • Certain mental health conditions (especially under 18s)
If care cannot be safely provided online, this will be explained and you will be advised to seek appropriate in-person care from your Online Doctor or Emergency Department.

9.1 Referrals and Diagnostic Investigations

Our doctors are able to write referral letters wherever doing so is clinically appropriate. That includes:

  • Referral to an Emergency Department
  • Referral into private hospitals and clinics — Affidea, Aut Even Hospital and the Mater Private among them
  • Referral to consultants and specialists practising privately
  • Referral for diagnostic imaging — X-ray, ultrasound, MRI, DEXA and CT scans
Clinical suitability governs every referral. Booking a consultation does not entitle you to one, and your doctor will refuse where a referral is not clinically indicated, or where what you describe needs to be examined in person first.

What we provide is the referral letter and nothing further. Booking the appointment, scheduling the scan and paying for the investigation all fall outside our service, and we are not in a position to promise that any hospital, clinic or consultant will accept the referral or offer an appointment by a given date. Whatever the investigation costs is settled between you and whoever performs it.

9.2 Hospital Laboratory and Blood-Test Referrals

Laboratory work, blood tests included, is performed by a laboratory rather than by DoxOnCall, and is arranged apart from the consultation itself.

Several public hospital laboratories have notified us that they can no longer make testing services available to patients whose referral comes from an online platform. It is with real regret that we must therefore decline to issue laboratory or blood-test referrals to the public hospitals named below.

As at 31 August 2026, the following are affected:

  • St Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin 4
  • St James’s Hospital, Dublin 8
  • Tallaght University Hospital, Dublin 24
  • St Columcille’s Hospital, Loughlinstown
  • Naas General Hospital
  • Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda
  • Wexford General Hospital
  • University Hospital Waterford
  • University Hospital Galway
  • University Hospital Kerry
  • Cavan General Hospital

The list records the position as notified to us and is liable to change. Patients living close to one of these hospitals have two routes open to them:

  • Request the laboratory referral from your own GP instead; or
  • Where a blood test has already been requested for you through doxoncall.ie, have it carried out privately — at the nearest private laboratory, walk-in clinic or phlebotomy service. Our phlebotomy clinic guide lists options nationwide.
⚠ Please note The restriction originates with the hospitals themselves and lies beyond our control. We apologise for whatever inconvenience it causes. Should you have paid for something this restriction prevents us from delivering, the refund provisions at Section 14 govern the position.

9.3 Pregnancy

Common conditions arising during pregnancy can sometimes be managed here, provided the condition itself is unconnected to the pregnancy. Anything pregnancy-related falls within the exclusions set out above and is outside what can be assessed online.

Do bear in mind that you may be directed to your own GP, or to your maternity service, where the doctor judges a physical examination clinically appropriate.

🚨 If you are pregnant and any of the following applies, act now rather than waiting for an online consultation.
  • Baby’s movements have reduced or stopped — ring your local maternity assessment unit for advice immediately.
  • Bleeding of any kind — ring your local maternity assessment unit for advice immediately.
  • You suspect a urine infection — contact your own GP or your maternity assessment unit. Testing a urine sample is essential in pregnancy wherever infection is suspected, and that cannot be done online.
10

Medications & Prescriptions

10.1 General Rules

  • Prescriptions are issued solely at the doctor's discretion
  • A consultation does not guarantee a prescription
  • Prescriptions are sent only to pharmacies in the Republic of Ireland
  • Medications are for personal use only and must not be shared
  • Depending on your symptoms and any request for a prior or repeat prescription, your doctor may ask you to provide details of your pharmacy and your registered Online Doctor, and may share and confirm relevant information with your Online Doctor and pharmacist where necessary.

10.2 What We Can and Cannot Prescribe

Whether any medicine is prescribed is always a clinical decision for the doctor, made only after an appropriate assessment. A consultation never guarantees a prescription.

Medicines we may prescribe only after clinical assessment (and only where suitable for remote care) include everyday treatments such as antibiotics and skin, respiratory and women’s-health medicines and, subject to eligibility, screening and monitoring, antidepressants (SSRIs) for anxiety, hormone replacement therapy (HRT), weight-management medicines, and — in strictly limited circumstances — a short course of a sleeping tablet.

We never prescribe on this platform, in any circumstances:

  • Schedule 2 and Schedule 3 controlled drugs (for example morphine, oxycodone, methylphenidate)
  • ADHD stimulant medicines
  • Opioid substitution treatment (for example methadone or buprenorphine), or any medicine to manage withdrawal (“detox”) or to taper a dependence-forming medicine
  • Any medicine the doctor judges unsafe to prescribe without an in-person examination or ongoing specialist oversight

We prescribe the following only in strictly limited circumstances, and never at a first consultation:

  • Schedule 4 controlled drugs — for example a short course of a sleeping tablet, or a benzodiazepine such as diazepam, where clinically justified
  • Codeine-containing painkillers and tramadol — as a short course, or as a renewal where you provide valid proof of a prior prescription (see 11.2)

In every such case: a small quantity, no repeat, a shorter prescription validity (around 28 days), and we may contact and share the prescription with your Online Doctor. Requesting a controlled drug by name is not a reason to prescribe it. We do not prescribe controlled drugs to anyone with a current or past dependence, or where there are signs of misuse or diversion.

Medicines for alcohol dependence. In limited circumstances, and only at the doctor’s discretion after a pre-assessment, we may prescribe a medicine that helps prevent relapse in alcohol dependence (for example acamprosate, naltrexone or disulfiram), in line with our clinical guidelines. The doctor may ask for blood tests first. We do not manage alcohol withdrawal (“detox”) online — if you may be at risk of withdrawal, the doctor will advise supervised care.

These lists are not exhaustive and our clinical policies may change. If a request cannot be met, the doctor will explain why and, where appropriate, suggest a safer alternative or advise you to see your own GP.

10.3 Repeat Prescriptions

Repeat prescriptions require a new consultation or approved prescription request. A doctor may request evidence of prior prescription or previous use of the requested medication before issuing any repeat prescription. Issuance of any repeat prescription remains entirely at the doctor's clinical discretion.

10.4 Weight-Management (GLP-1) Medicines

Weight-management medicines (such as semaglutide/Wegovy or tirzepatide/Mounjaro) are prescribed only where you meet the medical eligibility criteria (including a qualifying body-mass index), pass a safety and eating-disorder screening, and can verify your height and weight. Treatment requires ongoing monitoring and regular review, is not suitable for everyone, and weight is commonly regained if it is stopped. We do not prescribe Ozempic for weight loss (it is licensed in Ireland for type 2 diabetes only), and we do not supply medicines from unlicensed or online sources — you should never use these.

We do not prescribe these medicines to anyone under 18, to anyone with type 1 diabetes, to anyone who is pregnant, breastfeeding or actively trying to conceive, to anyone with a current or past eating disorder, or where there is a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2.

The body-mass-index thresholds we apply are 2.5 kg/m² lower for people of South Asian, Chinese, other Asian, Middle Eastern, Black African or African-Caribbean family background, reflecting higher cardiometabolic risk at the same BMI.

If you take an oral contraceptive, tirzepatide (Mounjaro) can make it less reliable. You will be advised to use an additional method of contraception for a period after starting treatment and after each dose increase. If you are planning a pregnancy, tirzepatide should be stopped at least one month, and semaglutide at least two months, beforehand.

Treatment is reviewed against progress. If you have not lost at least 5% of your body weight over the expected period, treatment is normally stopped rather than continued. Tell any surgeon or anaesthetist that you are taking one of these medicines before a planned procedure.

10.5 Self-Assessment Tools

Our website may offer self-check or eligibility tools (for example symptom or suitability questionnaires). These are for general information only. They are not a medical diagnosis, do not create a doctor–patient relationship, and do not entitle you to any particular prescription or outcome. Only a doctor, after a consultation, can assess you and decide on treatment.

10.6 Menopause and Hormone Replacement Therapy

HRT is prescribed only after an assessment, and only where it is suitable for remote care.

Information you must be able to provide. We cannot prescribe HRT without a recent blood-pressure reading (a home or pharmacy reading is acceptable), your height and weight, your smoking status, the date of your last period, and your cervical screening status. If you cannot provide these, the consultation cannot result in an HRT prescription.

Blood pressure. If your blood pressure is 160/100 or higher we will not prescribe HRT until it has been managed, and will ask you to see your Online Doctor first.

When we will not prescribe, and will refer instead. We do not prescribe systemic HRT where there is current, past or suspected breast cancer, another known or suspected oestrogen-dependent cancer, or another absolute contraindication identified during the assessment. These need your Online Doctor or a specialist menopause clinic.

Age. If you are under 40 with menopausal symptoms we will not prescribe remotely — this may indicate premature ovarian insufficiency, which needs investigation and specialist input. Between 40 and 45, blood tests may be required before we can start treatment.

How we prescribe. Patches, gels and sprays (transdermal HRT) are our default route. We do not prescribe testosterone on this platform. HRT requires ongoing review, normally at least annually. HRT is not a contraceptive.

10.7 Isotretinoin (Roaccutane)

Isotretinoin is provided through a dedicated consultation with a doctor who holds a postgraduate qualification in dermatology. It is normally considered only where acne is severe or scarring and has not responded to prescription creams and a course of antibiotics.

Pregnancy — read this before booking. Isotretinoin causes severe harm to an unborn baby and must never be taken in pregnancy. If you can become pregnant, reliable contraception and pregnancy testing before, during and after the course are conditions of treatment, not suggestions. If you are unwilling or unable to meet them, isotretinoin cannot be prescribed to you.

This is a monitored treatment, not a one-off prescription. It requires blood tests before starting and during treatment, regular review appointments, and a course that normally runs over several months. Prescriptions are issued in limited quantities with a short validity, and continuing treatment depends on attending the reviews.

Mental health. Tell the doctor about any history of depression, anxiety or mood change before starting, and report any change in mood promptly during treatment.

The doctor may conclude that your acne does not require isotretinoin, or that you need assessment by a consultant dermatologist instead. Booking this consultation does not guarantee that isotretinoin will be prescribed.

11

Controlled Drugs

11.1 Prescribing Conditions

Some medicines are “controlled drugs” under the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 2017. Where a controlled drug (for example a short course of a Schedule 4 sleeping tablet) is clinically appropriate, it is prescribed only under strict conditions: never at a first consultation, only in a small quantity, with no repeat, and typically valid for a shorter period (around 28 days). We may contact, and share the prescription with, your Online Doctor. Requesting a controlled drug by name is not a reason to prescribe it, and such requests may be declined. We do not prescribe controlled drugs to anyone with a current or past dependence, or where there are signs of misuse or diversion.

11.2 Controlled-Drug Renewals and Restricted Pain Medicines

Section 11.1 sets out that a controlled-drug prescription issued here carries no repeat. This section covers the separate situation in which you return and ask for a further prescription to continue treatment you were already receiving.

What we are able to do turns on the schedule the medicine sits in under Irish law. The Irish schedules are not the same as the UK ones, and it is the Irish position we apply.

  • Schedule 2 and Schedule 3 medicines — morphine, oxycodone, tapentadol (Palexia), methylphenidate and temazepam among them — cannot lawfully be dispensed in Ireland from an ordinary typed prescription. They require a handwritten prescription on paper, or transmission by Healthmail, and carry no repeats. We neither initiate nor renew these through this platform.
  • Schedule 4 Part 1 medicines — the benzodiazepines and z-drugs — may be considered for a further course, but only where that remains clinically appropriate and only on the restricted terms set out in Section 11.1.

No further or revised prescription for a controlled drug, or for a restricted pain medicine such as codeine or a codeine-containing combination (Solpadeine or Solpadol, for instance), will be issued unless you provide valid and accurate proof of the earlier prescription — a recent pharmacy label, a copy of the prescription, or a letter from your own GP. Tramadol, pregabalin and gabapentin are not controlled drugs in Ireland, but each carries a real risk of dependence, so the same proof requirement applies to them.

⚠ Please read this before booking Booking a consultation in order to obtain a controlled drug is no guarantee that one will be prescribed. That decision rests with the doctor and turns on your symptoms, your history and the clinical assessment. Where the doctor decides against prescribing, the fee covers the assessment that was carried out and is not refunded on that ground alone — which does not affect your statutory rights where the service was not supplied with reasonable care and skill. If you are unsure whether this service fits your situation, speak to our support team before booking, or arrange an in-person assessment with your own GP.

Controlled-drug prescriptions are never sent to you directly. They are sent to the pharmacy you name.

12

Sick Notes & Medical Certificates

Item Details
Backdating Not backdated except in exceptional circumstances
Extensions Cannot be issued based solely on a prior consultation — requires new clinical assessment
Maximum Duration 7 days per certificate
Revision & Extension For the same illness a certificate may be revised once only, at a further consultation and after a new clinical assessment — normally up to 5 additional working days
Total Per Illness 10 working days (14 calendar days) across all certificates for the same illness
Beyond This Period We strongly recommend an in-person assessment with your own GP. At a third presentation for the same illness we will not issue a further certificate: the doctor will advise you to attend your own GP, or provide an emergency-department referral letter where clinically indicated
Fee in That Case The consultation still takes place and is assessed, so 50% of the consultation fee is refunded
Clinical Discretion These are service limits, not clinical ones. A doctor may decline a certificate, issue a shorter one, or refer you sooner at any point where that is clinically appropriate
Free Period If requested during or within 36 hours of consultation
Fee After Free Period €14.99, payable through a link our support team sends you
Diagnoses Employer sick notes do not include diagnoses
Sick Note & Fit-to-Work Certificate These certify opposite things — that you are unfit, and that you are fit to return — and each requires its own clinical assessment. They cannot be issued from the same consultation. Obtaining both requires two separate appointments and two separate clinical reviews, on separate occasions. Booking a single consultation intending to obtain both does not entitle you to a refund.
Insurance & Travel Claim Reports Where you consulted us during an illness, we can provide a written medical report for a travel or other insurance claim, based on that consultation. This is a paid service, separate from the consultation itself.
What a Report Can Confirm The date and type of your consultation, the symptoms you reported, the doctor’s clinical impression, and the advice or treatment given — as recorded at the time.
What a Report Cannot Confirm Our consultations are remote, so no physical examination is carried out and no examination findings can be reported. We are not your online doctor and hold no prior medical records, so we cannot state whether a condition was pre-existing.
Retrospective Certification We can only report on a consultation that actually took place during the relevant illness. We cannot certify an illness, or fitness or unfitness to travel, for any date or period that was not assessed by us. Booking a consultation after the event in order to obtain such a certificate does not entitle you to one, nor to a refund.
Insurers’ Own Forms Where your insurer requires its own form to be completed, we will do so only where we consulted you during the relevant illness, and only in respect of the matters set out above. Sections requiring a physical examination, your prior medical history, or an opinion on a period we did not assess will be marked as not applicable to a remote consultation.
Accuracy of Reports A report states only what the treating doctor can support from the clinical record. Wording will not be altered to improve the prospects of a claim, and a request to do so may be declined.
Report Fees & Outcome The fee is payable for the preparation of the report, not for any particular outcome. Each insurer applies its own criteria and we cannot guarantee that a report will be accepted.
Consent & Release Medical information is released only with your explicit consent. Reports are issued to you, to forward to your insurer, unless you direct us otherwise in writing.
Travel Medication & Equipment Letter A separate document from a travel insurance claim report above. It is a doctor’s letter listing the medicines and medical equipment you have told us you are carrying, with doses and quantities, for airport security, airline staff and border officials. It is prepared from what you report and what the doctor is able to verify during the consultation; we do not inspect your medicines or your devices.
What the Travel Letter Is Not It is not a Schengen Article 75 or INCB certificate. Those are issued and authenticated by a national competent authority, which no doctor or private clinic can do. Entry, transit and carriage rules are set by each country; security staff and airlines apply their own rules and reach their own decisions; and in Ireland the customs authority has the final say. The letter does not guarantee that you will be permitted to carry, import or travel with anything.
Controlled Medicines When Travelling If you are carrying a controlled medicine you must check the requirements of your destination and of every country you transit before you travel. An Article 75 certificate is required to bring Schedule II or Schedule III medicines into Ireland from a Schengen country, and we cannot issue or authenticate one. Prescribed cannabis-based products may not be brought into Ireland.
Medical Equipment & Airline Clearance Pumps, sharps, sensors and testing supplies are listed as you report them. Airlines set their own conditions for powered medical devices and for portable oxygen, and may require their own medical clearance form and prior approval. That form is the airline’s and must be arranged with the airline directly; it is not part of this service.
Travel Letter Fees & Refunds The fee is for the consultation and the doctor’s assessment, not for a particular document or a particular outcome. If the doctor concludes that a letter is not appropriate, or that what you are carrying cannot be verified or certified, no refund is due. Once the letter has been issued, no refund is due.
13

Payments

  • All prices are displayed in advance
  • Payment is taken in full at the time of booking
  • You authorize the use of the payment method provided
  • The fee you pay must match the consultation you actually receive

13.1 Booking the Correct Consultation

Services are priced according to what they involve. If it becomes clear, before or during your consultation, that the matter you wish to discuss belongs to a different and higher-priced service than the one you booked, our support team will contact you to collect the difference by payment link or bank transfer.

  • The consultation will not proceed until payment of the difference has been received and confirmed. A screenshot or a pending transfer is not confirmation; cleared funds or a completed payment-link receipt are.
  • If the difference is not paid, the appointment will be cancelled and the consultation will not take place.
  • Deliberately booking a lower-priced service in order to obtain a consultation you know to be priced higher is a breach of these Terms, and no refund is due where an appointment is cancelled for that reason. If you selected the wrong service in error, tell our support team — the ordinary refund rules in Section 14 will apply.

13.2 Thank-You Codes in the DoxOnCall App

After a consultation booked and completed in the DoxOnCall app, you may be offered a thank-you code towards your next appointment. The discount and the length of time you have to use it are shown in the app at the moment you claim the code; at present they are 10% and 90 days. Where a code is offered, these terms apply:

  • The code belongs to the account that claimed it. It may be used for your own appointment or for a family member you book from that same account, but it cannot be transferred, sold or used by anyone else, and a code entered on another account will be refused.
  • One code per completed consultation, and each code may be used once.
  • Codes apply to appointments booked in the app. They cannot be used on the website, and they cannot be applied to a follow-up review, which is already offered at a reduced price.
  • A code cannot be exchanged for money, combined with another discount, or applied to a booking already paid for.
  • If the consultation that earned a code is refunded, the code may be withdrawn.
  • We may change or withdraw this offer at any time. A code already claimed remains valid until the expiry date shown with it in the app.
14

Cancellation, Rescheduling & Refunds

In short: cancel more than 6 hours before your appointment and you are refunded in full. After that, or once the consultation has happened or a prescription or certificate has been issued, the fee is not refundable. If something went wrong on our side — the consultation did not take place, or a document was issued in error — your statutory rights are unaffected and you should contact support.
Exception — third certificate request for the same illness. Where a doctor declines a further sick note under section 12 and advises you to attend your own GP, or issues an emergency-department referral letter instead, 50% of the consultation fee is refunded. The consultation itself was carried out and assessed, so the remaining 50% is not refundable.

Patient Cancellation

  • Free cancellation 6 hours or more before consultation
  • No refund within 6 hours of the consultation
  • Non-attendance results in no refund
  • No refund where an appointment was booked for the purpose of obtaining a controlled-drug prescription and the doctor declines to issue it — a controlled drug is never prescribed just because it is asked for (see Section 11)
  • No refund once a prescription, medical certificate or fitness certificate has been issued, or once the consultation has taken place. This applies where you have changed your mind, are dissatisfied with the clinical outcome, or the document does not say what you had hoped. This does not affect your statutory rights where the service was not supplied with reasonable care and skill — for example where the consultation did not take place, or a document was issued in error.

Provider Cancellation

  • You may reschedule or receive a full refund

When a Consultation Starts Late

  • Your consultation can begin later than the time you booked — for example in busy clinic hours, or when an earlier patient’s concerns or clinical care need more of the doctor’s time
  • A late start is not grounds for a refund
  • Should your doctor not make contact at all, please get in touch with our support team — your statutory rights where a consultation does not go ahead are unaffected

Refund Processing

  • Refunds are issued to the original payment method
  • Processing time: 1–10 working days
⚠ Cooling-Off Period By purchasing consultation services, you acknowledge that services begin immediately and you waive the statutory 14-day cooling-off period, except where refunds are expressly permitted.
15

User Behavior Policy

Abusive, threatening, discriminatory, or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated and may result in:

  • Immediate termination of the consultation
  • Removal from the Platform
  • No entitlement to a refund
  • Refusal of future bookings

15.1 Restriction of Future Bookings

A treating doctor may report a concern arising from a consultation. Our support team, not the doctor, decides what action follows. Where a concern is upheld, we may restrict your access to future bookings. Grounds include:

  • Giving false or misleading personal or medical information
  • Inappropriate or persistent requests for controlled drugs (see Section 11)
  • Rude, abusive, threatening or discriminatory behaviour towards our doctors or staff
  • Supplying documents we have reason to believe are false, altered or fraudulent

A restriction may also apply to any related service we operate. Restrictions are recorded with a reason and reviewed periodically; they are not automatically permanent. If you believe a restriction has been applied to your account in error, contact our support team and we will review it.

16

Identity Verification

We reserve the right to request photo identification at any time. Failure to provide valid ID may result in cancellation without refund.

In particular, before we change a name, date of birth or address already recorded against a booking or a completed consultation, our support team may ask you for documentary evidence — such as photo identification or proof of address. We ask for this only where the circumstances warrant it, and any documents you send are handled in line with our Privacy Policy.

If the evidence requested is not provided, we may decline the change and cancel the related appointment or request, as set out above.

Liability & Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, services are provided "as is". We are not liable for inaccurate information provided by users, nor responsible for third-party websites or services. Nothing limits liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or statutory rights.

20

Open Disclosure

doxoncall.ie is committed to open and honest communication where unintended harm occurs, in line with Irish open disclosure principles. Apologies do not constitute admissions of liability.

21

Termination

We may suspend or terminate access due to breach of these Terms, safety concerns, legal or regulatory requirements, fraud or misuse. You may terminate your account at any time.

22

Changes to These Terms

We may amend these Terms at any time. Updates take effect immediately upon publication on the website.

23. Communications & Marketing

We will send you service (“transactional”) messages that are necessary to provide your care — for example booking confirmations, appointment reminders, payment and prescription notifications, and secure links to your records. These are part of the service and continue for as long as you use it.

We may also send occasional non-essential messages, such as a request to review your experience, a reminder that a follow-up is due, or an update about our services. You can opt out of these at any time using the unsubscribe link in the email, by asking our support team, or by contacting us at support@doconcall.ie. Opting out of non-essential messages does not affect the service messages needed for your care.

24. Your Patient Portal & Documents

Documents issued to you (such as prescriptions and certificates) are generated electronically. Prescriptions are sent securely to your chosen pharmacy, so you do not normally need to bring a copy yourself. You can view your bookings and documents in your secure patient portal, reached from the links in your confirmation and reminder emails, or by requesting a fresh secure link from the patient-portal page. Any patient copy of a prescription you download is watermarked “patient copy” and is for your reference only. Keep your portal links private — they give access to your personal health information.
